Shannon,
An entertaining little book in which powerhouse Broadway actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth shares life advice and stories from her career, relationships, life during lockdown and learning about her birth parents。 Really great on audio with songs interspersed throughout the narrative。 Much thanks to @librofm for an ALC copy!
Vanessa,
Thanks to Harper Celebrate for the DRC。 This book was nothing like I expected it to be。 I feel like the author had some interesting stories to tell and I'd love to know more about her life, but there's just too many pages dedicated to prayers。 Too many thoughts, not enough pages to reflect upon them more deeply。 And just to be clear, I have nothing against the prayers, I just wanted more stories as well。 Maybe it's my mistake, since the book was supposed to be short and fast paced。 I know many p Thanks to Harper Celebrate for the DRC。 This book was nothing like I expected it to be。 I feel like the author had some interesting stories to tell and I'd love to know more about her life, but there's just too many pages dedicated to prayers。 Too many thoughts, not enough pages to reflect upon them more deeply。 And just to be clear, I have nothing against the prayers, I just wanted more stories as well。 Maybe it's my mistake, since the book was supposed to be short and fast paced。 I know many people prefer it this way。 It just doesn't work for me。 。。。more

Great premise and engaging tale with relatable characters… a little slower-places but this is definitely worth the read, y’all。 Pick it up! Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC opportunity
Nicki Kendall,
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review。 This was a quick, ok read for me。 I was hoping for a little bit more, but thats more an indication of my high expectations starting off my reading in 2023, than it is to do with this book。 I have heard that the art throughout is amazing but it didn't quite transfer that well to my Kindle unfortunately so I cannot confirm this。 Most of the advice/annecdotes were written in areligious and prayer format, which didn't really Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review。 This was a quick, ok read for me。 I was hoping for a little bit more, but thats more an indication of my high expectations starting off my reading in 2023, than it is to do with this book。 I have heard that the art throughout is amazing but it didn't quite transfer that well to my Kindle unfortunately so I cannot confirm this。 Most of the advice/annecdotes were written in areligious and prayer format, which didn't really appeal to me, there were some written in bullet points and lists also。 reading it, it felt a bit random in parts to me, but I did enjoy the parts about Kristin being adopted and her feelings towards her adoptive parents and her birth parents。 #netgalley #kristenchenoweth #imnophilosopherbutIgotthoughts #tea_sipping_bookworm #amazonaustralia #kindle #goodreads #litsy #thestorygraph #bookstagram #bookqueen #memoir 。。。more

*I read this via an ARC from Libro。fm*I’m rounding up and would probably more accurately say 3。5。 It was exactly what I expected; ramblings and thoughts from Kristin Chenoweth, interspersed with personal stories from across her life。 She is known for her faith but I did not find it heavy-handed。 It was lovely to hear her perform the book。 Entertaining。
Sheri P,
I snagged this because I love Kristin Chenoweth and based on the title I thought this might be a fun read。 Other than that I had no expectations! I didn’t realize she already has written another book。 I didn’t expect so many references to scripture but it didn’t impact my feelings about the book。 This one was filled with anecdotes and bits of wisdom that I thoroughly enjoyed I really would like to read a physical copy, because the eGalley seemed to have messed with the formatting making it hard I snagged this because I love Kristin Chenoweth and based on the title I thought this might be a fun read。 Other than that I had no expectations! I was excited for Chenoweth’s narration but even that couldn’t keep me interested
Julia Bodwell,
Thank you @librofm and @harpercollins for this ALC。 I was disappointed to see such low reviews on GoodReads, because I truly found this to be such a fun book! I think listening to Kristin narrate on the audiobook especially helped me love everything about it (even all the sprinkles of Jesus throughout, when I’m not exactly religious myself)。 Listening to her voice, and all the little nuances she brought to the narration (including singing!) really made it feel like she was talking directly to me Thank you @librofm and @harpercollins for this ALC。 I was disappointed to see such low reviews on GoodReads, because I truly found this to be such a fun book! Tiffany Killian,
I was expecting a quirky cute funny book but definitely didn’t feel like that’s what I got。 Between the pages of different cover art that kept coming up & the overall religious aspect, I just wasn’t a huge fan。 I tried my best to get into it and enjoy it, but it just wasn’t for me。 *Thank you #NetGalley & Harper celebrate for providing me with an ARC of #ImNoPhilosopherButIGotThoughts for my honest review*

An Arc of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。3。5 Overall, I quite enjoyed this book。 Chenoweth was open without getting bogged down in the details。 She brought up stories and lessons when they were relevant rather than chronologically which helped the flow of the book。 It’s laid out really well and it is fun。 There are lots of pages with few words that add to the experience。 I don’t think there was anything profound and I think you would en An Arc of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。3。5 Overall, I quite enjoyed this book。 Chenoweth was open without getting bogged down in the details。 She brought up stories and lessons when they were relevant rather than chronologically which helped the flow of the book。 It’s laid out really well and it is fun。 There are lots of pages with few words that add to the experience。 I don’t think there was anything profound and I think you would enjoy this a lot of you are a fan of Kristin Chenoweth。 I would have loved some more illustrations in the style of the front cover and even more of her opinions and quotes rather than other people’s。 。。。more
Andi,
Cheno holds a special place in my heart - during the early 2000's when I fully embraced musical theater, Wicked was her role and I became an instant fan。 I have her autobiography and I plan on reading it soon after finishing this book。 This book while cute, adorable, and ever so kind。。。 doesn't really have much to give。 It's more of a series of thoughts / feelings that she has about certain topics and approaches it in a self-help manner。I guess I don't know why this was a book, but seeing that i Cheno holds a special place in my heart - during the early 2000's when I fully embraced musical theater, Wicked was her role and I became an instant fan。 I have her autobiography and I plan on reading it soon after finishing this book。 This book while cute, adorable, and ever so kind。。。 doesn't really have much to give。 It's more of a series of thoughts / feelings that she has about certain topics and approaches it in a self-help manner。I guess I don't know why this was a book, but seeing that it was written during a time of COVID lockdown, her kindness and empathy for others fueled her need to write a book。 In between her self-help / thoughts she talks about personal bits such as her engagement to Josh and her reveal on her birth mother / parents。 Overall, if you're a fan of hers you will want to read this book but I don't know if it has any re-readability。 。。。more

ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。I was excited for this read and the collection of meditations, stories, and quotes。 However, the short length of this book created a hodgepodge of ideas that were not connected。 I loved hearing about Kristin’s life, and wish the meditations were more closely related with the stories she was sharing。
Sarah,
I adore Kristin Chenoweth and while reading this book I found myself reading it in her voice! While yes it was heavy on the religious talk, the messages she was sharing were solid and worth sharing。 I enjoyed this read and I’ll for sure be recommending it when it comes out!

A sweet memoir/mini devotional, loaded with even parts sassy and sentimental stories, Ms。 Chenoweth's "Thoughts" really make ya think, you know? Personally, I loved it and read it cover to cover in no time。 If you've got serious issues with Christianity, you probably won't like the amount of God talk or Bible verses, but I think it struck the right balance for those of us who don't mind at all!Thank you so much to NetGalley, Kristin Chenoweth and the publisher for the Advance Copy - all thoughts A sweet memoir/mini devotional, loaded with even parts sassy and sentimental stories, Ms。 Chenoweth's "Thoughts" really make ya think, you know? Yes。Did I find the collection of essays mildly disjointed? Yes。Did I enjoy it, anyhow? Also, yes。Part memoir, part self-help workbook, part Book of (un)Common Prayer, I really appreciated her philosophy of “Eating the fish, without choking on the bones。”While I understand that many will find her prayers hard to relate to, I think, with a little tweaking, her meditations could work for most。7/10Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Celebrate for this diversion of an ARC。 。。。more

This was a really interesting read。 There were many nuggets from Kristin's wide ranging career from stage and screen。 It was written in such a way it was like she was sitting in front of you telling you the stories herself。 The one thing I did not like about this book was the heavy Christian themes and many quotes from The Bible。 I am not religious and am unsure if I had picked up this book I knew about the large amount of Christianity within it。 None the less this was an enjoyable read and I wo This was a really interesting read。 There were many nuggets from Kristin's wide ranging career from stage and screen。 It was written in such a way it was like she was sitting in front of you telling you the stories herself。 The one thing I did not like about this book was the heavy Christian themes and many quotes from The Bible。 I am not religious and am unsure if I had picked up this book I knew about the large amount of Christianity within it。 None the less this was an enjoyable read and I would love to hear more of Kristin's stories。 。。。more

I do love Kristin Chenoweth, and you could hear her voice in every word of this little book。 I honestly don't know what I was expecting, but it was not that much praying。 But underneath all that, there is still a lot of positive attitude and wisdom to soak up, even if you don't share her religion, and at the end of it, I smiled and laughed, contemplated and pondered, and felt like I had a nice long chat with a good friend。 So while there might not be a lot of content, more like a few snippets fr I do love Kristin Chenoweth, and you could hear her voice in every word of this little book。 I honestly don't know what I was expecting, but it was not that much praying。 But underneath all that, there is still a lot of positive attitude and wisdom to soak up, even if you don't share her religion, and at the end of it, I smiled and laughed, contemplated and pondered, and felt like I had a nice long chat with a good friend。 So while there might not be a lot of content, more like a few snippets from her life with lessons she learned from it, I enjoyed it。 *I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley* 。。。more
John Amory,
I plowed through this in just under a couple hours, including breaks。 It's part memoir, part self-help, and part devotional。 I'm only really interested in reading one of these things, especially from Kristin Chenoweth。Unfortunately, this lacked depth and precision。 When Cheno is relating her musings (alternately called philosophies, or "thoughts" in each chapter, like Thoughts on Opportunity) to her real life, they not only make more sense, they give you reason to listen to her; here's an experi I plowed through this in just under a couple hours, including breaks。 It's part memoir, part self-help, and part devotional。 I'm only really interested in reading one of these things, especially from Kristin Chenoweth。Unfortunately, this lacked depth and precision。 When Cheno is relating her musings (alternately called philosophies, or "thoughts" in each chapter, like Thoughts on Opportunity) to her real life, they not only make more sense, they give you reason to listen to her; here's an experience she had, and this is the takeaway, regardless of how generic that takeaway might be。But too much of the rest of the book is illustrations, prayers, Biblical quotes (a whole lot of this book comes back to God, which often felt like a sneak-attack since the description made this seem generally spiritual and philosophical, not religious, specifically Christian), lists, and even lots of empty space for you to fill in the blanks。 There's an entire page taken up by the words, "Faith is a reasonable stand-in for courage。" Each chapter begins with a fully blank page with a drawing, a la the cover, of Cheno as a muse。More than anything else, that's what this book is: stuff filling pages。 。。。more

I'm a big Kristin Chenoweth fan, but just couldn't quite follow this book。 I enjoyed the tidbits of knowledge and humor peppered throughout the way, but the organization of the book felt well, disorganized, and difficult to read。 For something as significant as philosophy to be in the title, I suppose I was expecting a big more substance rather than lighthearted, airy notions。 I'm a big Kristin Chenoweth fan, but just couldn't quite follow this book。 I enjoyed the tidbits of knowledge and humor peppered throughout the way, but the organization of the book felt well, disorganized, and difficult to read。 For something as significant as philosophy to be in the title, I suppose I was expecting a big more substance rather than lighthearted, airy notions。 。。。more

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC。I don’t know what I was expecting, maybe actual meditations per the title but it was extremely religious and mostly prayers。 Even the few meditations were Christianity based。 This might be a Christian’s cup of tea but as someone atheist looking for a funny read and some light meditations this became more of a sermon than anything。

I'll be honest。。。 this one disappointed me。 I adore Kristin and will read all of her books and always support her but this collection fell flat。 Kristin is so witty, fun and funny, with so much life experience so I was expecting a full- tour-de-force of amazing advice。 (spoiler alert: I didn't quite get it)。This was a quick little book with versions of the cover art inside (& I do adore the cover art)。 Most of the advice were religious and in prayer format。 Otherwise, there were lists and bullet I'll be honest。。。 this one disappointed me。 I adore Kristin and will read all of her books and always support her but this collection fell flat。 Kristin is so witty, fun and funny, with so much life experience so I was expecting a full- tour-de-force of amazing advice。 (spoiler alert: I didn't quite get it)。This was a quick little book with versions of the cover art inside (& I do adore the cover art)。 Most of the advice were religious and in prayer format。 Otherwise, there were lists and bullet points。 I don't mind a modge-podge and artistic designs for books but for such a short book to be made up of mostly repeated art and lists, I wasn't a huge fan。Arianna Grande wrote the introduction which was a huge win and she had many kind things to say。Overall, not quite what I expected or hoped for but I will always give Kristin another chance。 。。。more
